December was a time for Cake Smashes for me! Sydney was my last Newborn in 2017 and I was luckily enough to capture her a few times for her 6 Month Milestone and Christmas Mini Sessions this year. And now she’s back again for her One Year Cake Smash!! Her Mama requested we do it at my Home Studio in Matthews, North Carolina to keep the mess and hassle out of her home, which I often suggest for indoor Cake Smash setups.
In all Sydney’s Photo Sessions with me, her personality shines through. She clearly has a stubborn side and doesn’t give in easily. Her parents always said her older sister is the silly, smiley one and she is much more serious and thoughtful. So basically, she doesn’t give me smiles right off the bat. But with a little warming up, I think I managed to sneak a few. Even though it was very cold, Mama was determined to try and capture a few shots outside in an adorable dress she got for her. We were in and out in just a few minutes and Sydney didn’t complain once! But when we got inside for the Cake Smash, she wasn’t quite as happy. We took a little break and let he work out her troubles and even though I could tell Mama was worried, because she thought we wouldn’t be able to capture her adorable setup, I told her to just give her some time… and after a little bit, we got her to turn a corner. She may have only given us just a few minutes on set with that cake, but it was totally worth it! I just love her simple, winter theme for her Cake Smash and her serious cuteness was just perfect!
