I photographed Leela’s Cake Smash unexpectedly when another local Charlotte Photographer decide she was too pregnant to take on setting up an in-home Cake Smash Session for her previous client. Lindsay Beck, with Tin Feather Photography, reached out to me to refer me for a Cake Smash because she herself would be over 36 weeks pregnant for this session (and actually had her sweet boy just two weeks after Leela’s Cake Smash). I know I’ve said this before, but I love our community of Photographers here in Charlotte. There is such a strong group of Photographers that rely on one another for help, always putting our clients first and our egos last.
It’s always a little nerve-wracking photographing for a client that you know you were not their ”first choice” Photographer, but Melanie and I hit it off right away when she told me some awesome similarities we had after she looked at my “about me” on my website. She told me her mom passed away just a few years before my mom, and just like my mom and I did, she and her mom would sit together and watch hummingbirds. She send me a photo for her hummingbird tattoo, which I always have and of course, my logo is of a hummingbird for that reason. Made me feel like it was all meant to be 🙂
Everything went so smooth planning for Leela’s Cake Smash and she was so cute when it came time for the big day! She was all smiles for her portraits prior to the Cake Smash, and when the cake came out (almost as big as herself!) she did not miss a beat. She went right on digging into it in her own delicate way. I love these simple Cake Smash setups, especially when the baby is a perfect model! What do you think?!
