For the most part, I photograph babies and young children, who’s session I expect to be a little unpredictable… but I’ve learned that when you get a group of adults together, they can be just as silly and unpredictable as children. I’ve know Wendy for quite some time, for she was friends with my mom years ago, but I never really knew her on a personal level. So, of course, I had no idea what a fun family she had!
Wendy reached out to me this fall looking for someone to capture photos of all her siblings and parents together… which hadn’t happen in years! I soon learned that Wendy’s mom had been diagnosed with alzheimer’s, and the family (including all 6 siblings) wanted to capture photos together while their mom still had good days. I am very familiar with what is it like to watch your mom loose more and more of herself, and it’s not easy. But it was beautiful to capture this family reunited from all over the United States to be together for each other. Every single one of the 8 adults in this family had such personality, I had so much fun getting to know them… and then getting a little crazy.
When it was suggested that they all get on the playground equipment in their birth order, I just couldn’t resist taken them up on that (even though we were running over time for our mini session). And after that, Ron “Dad” spotted the tire swing –Â which I did not recommend – which of course, he insisted on trying it out. I absolutely love the moments of pure joy from these parents that have raised 6 beautiful, respectable adults. It was such a honor to capture it all!
