I don’t photograph many births, since the on-call lifestyle isn’t easy with my current life of chasing toddlers and running a studio business – however when it works out with my schedule to take them, I absolutely LOVE it.
When I first met with Elizabeth and her husband, I felt such a connection between them. We talked about the plans for their home birth and all the details that go along with photographing a birth. Their calm, relaxed energy just made me feel like this was going to be a beautiful birth. We chatted off and on throughout the last phase of her pregnancy, and her due date came and went. Every day we went past her due date, we knew the big day was inevitably coming soon!
Unfortunately, with the unpredictably of birth it doesn’t always work out to photograph the whole story. When I got the call a little after 3AM and Dad finally said it was time to come, I jumped in the car with my gear and was on the road not a minute later and was there before 330AM. However, Baby James was on a mission and was not waiting for anyone. He arrived in this world at 3:19AM with less than 5 mins of pushing from this amazingly strong mama!
So even though I missed the actual birth, I got all the amazing parts that come after that moment your bring life into this world. I loved watching this beautiful couple become parents.
Baby James you are loved more then you know!
