We use the term “boho” a lot here at the studio and it’s only gained popularity recently as neutrals have taken the trendy world by storm, but where does it originate? Turns out this in-style trend has several origin theories, but the word itself derives from the French ‘Bohemian’ associated with the Roma community, or as we know them to be, the Gypsies – the Romani people who were nomadic and led with a distinct culture and sense of fashion. Acting out of necessity, it focuses on a minimalist wardrobe for easy travel and earthy tones with splashes of color, representing their surroundings. Bohemian style is categorized by it’s unconventional and free-spirited essence, the breaking free of social norms.
While we get a lot of requests for neutral boy sessions, it’s less often boy mamas use the word “boho” so we were excited to get into it! This session really embraces that by incorporating the earthy tones, woven, mismatched textures and the moon and stars from nature. Comment and let us know what you think about this theme – should it stay on trend or be replaced? If so, what’s the next big style? Let’s make it happen!
