Imagine a time you were sitting with your little one as a newborn. Maybe they had silky wisps of hair that further carried their newborn scent to you. Barely there eyelashes and eyebrows. A button nose so tiny, it’s hard to imagine they might get a lego stuck there someday. Supple cheeks you can never seem to get enough of kissing. Their bottom lip always tucking in or wriggling as they sleep. Toes so small that you almost forget to remember them because you’re always trying to keep them warm. And there’s you. Someday your baby won’t be a baby anymore and they’ll wonder what hands held them before wrinkles took over and what hair cascaded over them as they were fed for what felt like the millionth time before those hairs went gray. It’s more than just a picture, it’s a preservation of a memory.
“Look at what my mom looked like, you would have loved her”.
“I told you that you looked just like me when you were born”.
